Construction Testing Solutions (CTS) has completed the acquisition of Silkstone Environmental Ltd, as the firm continues its acquisitive growth strategy with the backing of Palatine Private Equity. CTS, which is based in Leicester, offers a variety of construction consulting and testing services.
The bolt-on deal follows CTS’s takeover of CGL Ltd in November of last year, which was followed by the February 2021 acquisition of Nicholls Colton Group. Through its latest acquisition, CTS will strengthen its capabilities in environmental, landfill and quarry monitoring, as well as its permit planning consultancy offering.
Sheffield-based Silkstone, which was founded in 2000, provides a wide range of services to the civil engineering, landfill and quarry sectors. Post-acquisition, Silkstone’s former owner Mark Barrett will remain with the business as managing director.
CTS’s CEO Phil Coles commented: “This latest acquisition supports our overall growth strategy and focus on delivering market leading construction testing solutions to our clients. It further strengthens our position in the UK construction testing and environmental monitoring markets and provides numerous synergies and opportunities that benefit both CTS, SEL and our clients."
Coles added: “This acquisition complements the CGL and Nicholls Colton deals announced in November and February respectively, and reinforces our commitment to growth in attracting market leading talent and capability to our business.”
Palatine Investment Manager Tom Hustler added: “Silkstone has a great reputation in the marketplace and will add depth and scale to CTS’ capabilities in line with its growth strategy. It’s fantastic to be able to support another acquisition as we build an industry-leading nationwide construction testing business alongside Phil and the management team.”
